Super Vitus 980 Frame-Set ( Cycles Baron) Classic French Vintage 70/80s Artisan 
 
About this Bike Frame:
 
A racing frame going by features and geometry. ( Weight 3.3kg as in picture)
Beautiful Vitus/Super Vitus 980 frame-set  with some varied patina within the paint , some marks and minor scrapes offering originality and charming character flaws.
Ideal for that all French build you might be thinking of.
Badged Cycles Baron and G.Baron - I think this frame was something else originally  . (29 March 2022 - I am quite sure this is an Andre Bertin frame based on the features of the frame. I have had two or three but also found others with the same seat cluster and bottle cage decorations)
The steel  fork is SUPER VITUS 980 - though its not badge as this, this is engraved in the fork steerer   - this was a common practice for Vitus. Super Vitus was the French Steel Equivalent to the Reynolds 531 tubing exported to France but of course was predominantly more popular in France. Certainly all of the main bike manufacturers in France will have made more frames using Vitus.  
I'd originally thought frame to also be SV but now I don't think so. The Forks are but not frame. Pro bally another Vitis steel.

Other: The frame has some marks  - notably around shifter and front mech clamping area but also either side of top tube , there  is also signs of scraping - as well as top tube / Stays plus a couple chips on forks. Either way , the frame looks good as is or could be repainted without loss of identity.
The bottom bracket and steer threads are French
