About this Bike:

Raleigh Classic 1984 Touring Bicycle plus additional Items including Bluemells Olympic Mudguards, and set of Carradice Overlander Pannier Bags with Blackburn Racks & Bottle Cage,

The bicycle has been extremely well looked after by it's one previous owner and some of the original documentation and handbook information from 1984 is also provided.

This is not a standard Raleigh Classic from 1984 in terms of the componentry onboard. Starting life as the Classic 15, the previous owner immediately changed several things on the bike, out went the Wheels with Weinmann Concave Rims , the brake set - Raleigh branded Weinmann Centre Pulls and the Drop Foam Grips from the handlebars ( 3 of those still exist and are included in the sale). The Wheels were replaced using Wolber M58 rims and Campagnolo Record Hubs, The brake set replaced with Campagnolo Super Record Levers ( and later NOS Campagnolo Hoods) with Weinmann AG CP Type 1 - a new product release at the time. Handlebar tape replaced the foam to what you see today.

Currently the bicycle features short 'sports' mudguards but the sale includes all the original touring Mudguards , bags and racks.

The Carradice Overlander set consist of 6 bags including two rear panniers and two front panniers plus bag for sleeping bag and a large rear saddle bag. A couple of these items look unused or barely used. The others have the look of more use. In addition there is a 7th bag for the front - the straps have come away from over use - so would need a repair - this currently houses parts such as inner tube repair kit , spare straps and spare spokes for the wheels plus the Blackburn bottle cage.

You will find many examples of this bicycle and they weill certianly be without the detail of this one and also the consideration the original owner gave to upgrading the quality of the ride. The Bicycle rides very well and is comfortable to ride . Components such as the Brake Levers, Callipers , Wheels , Handlebars and Saddle speak for volumes and will help keep value in the bike over time . Frame does have a few marks/chips but nothing major.

There is evidence of the addressing of  scratches etc but again nothing that detracts from the look . One of the Lever hoods has a crack that has been repaired. Fixing bolts may be required for  Racks and mudguards.

Pedals are not included with this bicycle. There are many different types and this is something for your personal choice.
