Gitane Vuelta 1984 ( Full Chrome Fork/Reynolds)
About this Bike Frame:
Gitane Vuelta S2944
Collectable and desirable, evoking memories of Fignon & Lemonde, along with former team mate Hinault in the heyday of the tour de France .
A rare/hard to find example of this popular Gitane model (Vuelta) featuring Competition Reynolds 501 steel tubing.
For each year of this model's production (except this 1984) Gitane made the frame using Super Vitus steel tubing made in France. Equipped with Shimano 600 or 600 Arabesque, it had become , possibly the best selling of all Gitane bike frames and one of the most loved. Used, these still command a good price today.
For one year only (1984) , the Competition Reynolds 501 version was in production. Competition Reynolds 501 in comparison is regarded as one of the best steel tubings used in bicycle manufacture. The quality of this frame speaks for itself.
This frame and its parts has been restored and refurbished to what you in the pictures. Newly painted and new art work applied. You'll note the down tube decal is the correct version as per the 1984 catologue.
